I just got a Google Alert for a J-Love profile for myself. There aren’t many Fogelsons in the world, and even less Gary Fogelsons, and so I was embarassed to find one out there on a Jewish dating site, nestled on Google between results for various things I have been involved in (like my high school track scores). I actually thought, despite my distaste for online dating and being Jewish, that I signed up for this service a long time ago after a night of drinking. So I plugged in my email in the “forgot your password” area, and luckily got an error message comforting me that it was, in fact, another Jewish Gary Fogelson out there lonely and looking for love.

Check out this awesome Wheat Thin® that popped out of a box I’ve been enjoying since yesterday (classic “square-shaped” Wheat Thin® on the left). I will save this little guy for anyone interested in eating (or keeping) it. Just email me (gary [at] theholster.com) your address and why you’d like to eat/have this Wheat Thin® and it’s yours. If you live in New York, I can deliver it in person. First person to email wins.

The Holster is a publishing project that Phil, Sonny and I have been working on here and there for the past few years. We recently put up some new zines, and are currently working on a whole new site that will feature zines, books, other print projects and some experiments. Not all of those projects will be for sale, but they will be viewable in their entirety, which is something we’re excited about. The market of publishing was never something that interested us as much as the sharing of experiences through the intimacy of books.
Anyways, just a little self promotional plug. Stop by, and if you’re interested in any of the zines just let me know. Also, Luke and David’s zines are in the new issue of The Journal which is cool. Thanks to those folks for that.

There’s an article in The New York Times today about Wii Fit. At the top of the second page (online), Shira Weiss, “The Multitasker” reflects on her experience:
“I enjoyed it,” Ms. Weiss said. “It’s more interesting than running on a treadmill because it gives you something to look at. It’s like an interactive exercise game. In some ways, it’s like playing Nintendo, but with your body.”
Actually Shira, it is and interactive exercise game, and it is EXACTLY like playing Nintendo with your body. I’m not much for video games or for fitness. I’m fine with walking and riding my bike, but I’m excited to see how this will catch on and subversively improve the health of our lazy country.

While looking over a previously posted photograph from frontlines of Hillary Clinton’s campaign (stolen from The New York Times), we noticed a suspicious audience member.

Sitting just over Clinton’s right shoulder is a man who appears to be none other than Ernst Bettler, a fictional swiss graphic designer who was introduced falsely to the world in Dot Dot Dot issue 10 2 (reprinted in issue 10, thanks Ryan).

Could this entire image be a hoax? What could this mean for Hillary’s campaign?
For more about Mr. Bettler, click here and here.

In case anyone cares, I’m a Green Party member. So, I can’t vote for either Obama or Clinton in the primaries. In November, I will be happy to vote for either of them.

Come up to Maysles tonight for a screening of Who Is Bozo Texino, Bill Daniel’s soon-to-be (if not already) classic film about freight hopping and hobo graffiti. After the film there will be a Q&A, and a book release for Mostly True, the companion book to the film that Phil, Rich, Sam and I lovingly labored over for the first couple months of this year.
